Projects Development and Packaging

(SM-NMSPnr)

This document describes a specific process which could be used to build and package SmartMIB ‘Incremental Solutions’ to be used as Add-Ons to current management processes and scripts solutions infrastructure.

Incremental solutions are specific and functional SmartMIB solutions that could be added on top of an existing SmartMIB Engine Components installation and is independent of exiting –running- solutions.

To use this development package, the administrator needs to do the following:

• Build the necessary SOSL scripts and define those scripts under the menu option ‘Processes’. To design SOSL based management processes and scripts please refer to the SOSL Command Line User's Manual document.

• Define the relevant MIBs support for the particular solution. To do this refer to Defining SNMP MIB Objects Support of the SmartMIB User’s Manual.   

• Define any specific Traps that are relevant to this solution. To do this refer to Traps and Notifications Receiver Engine Options in SmartMIB section of the SmartMIB User’s Manual.

• Configure the ‘Security’ and User Levels and other User Actions necessary for the solutions. To do this refer to Configuring User Levels section of the SmartMIB User’s Manual.   

• Create and define any specific Reports and graphs particular to this solution. To do this refer to the Report Generator Engine Option and the Defining a SmartMIB Graph section of the SmartMIB User’s Manual.   

Now that development package is host to all the data related to a specific Project (SmartMIB solutions); the user can go to ‘Projects’ menu item and select ‘Build Project’ option as shown below:

The user can now enter a project name as below:

And select the desired path to store the specific Project files (in XML format)

The result is a specific directory with all the necessary files for the particular solution Project that is zipped and sent to the customer or to the SmartMIB team for review.

The user could then choose Projects à Reinitialize Database to clean all the data to start a new Project.

This ‘Projects’ Development Package is intended typically for NMS solution provider organizations or to large Enterprises and Service Providers seeking to automate their management process solutions deployment.
