Data
Integrity and Summarization Options
SmartMIB
Application
suites preserves collected and calculated data and information integrity by
archiving current data while concurrently providing the options to aggregate,
summarize and integrate with both a local and other remote
SmartMIB
systems.
Large and abrupt growth in the amount of data collected is typical
of all NMS applications and should be anticipated at any time during the life of
the management processes. Such growth could abruptly degrade the host server
recourses to a degree that its operability is compromised. Another consequence
to growth that has been largely overlooked in the industry is that the large
size of data to be reported compromises data understanding. Summarization and
Aggregation could be used by
SmartMIB
to
adapt the appropriate data resolution that guarantees or at least improves the
data understanding without affecting host server resources.
Both Summarization and Aggregation formulas and schedules could be totally controlled by the network administrator. The schedule options are either on time or periodically over a number of days, weeks, or months. Summarization and Aggregation data could also be archived and summarized again over a new schedule.
