SmartMIB Database Backup excludes the essential system components like the SOSL management scripts |

Database Backup Engine (DBE) |
Symptom
SmartMIB Database Backup Engine component doesn’t perform a backup On the SOSL management scripts residing in the \usr\scripts directory
Conditions
During all backup operations – Immediate and scheduled |
Workaround
SOSL management scripts are not stored into the database. Scripts are not meant to be modified very often. As new scripts could be modified and new proprietary Reports could be added; the administrator needs to manually perform a backup of the contents of the \usr\scripts directory (and any other similar directory like \usr\Reports)

Component
Traps |
Symptom
SmartMIB service TrapListener process show as Not Responding by the operating System’s Task Manager |
Conditions
During normal operations |
Workaround
We would like to draw attention to the TrapListener normal behaviour:
1. Once the TrapListener is started and have been seen in the Task Manager it will be set to a sleep state if no trap is captured within a defined timeout.
2. TrapListener is then set to the active (running) state whenever it starts updating the traps journal.
As for the "Not Responding" state; it should ignored. |
