Ethernet Interface Traffic and Error Statistics

Solution Introduction:

This Small management solution provides an application that learns and then targets specific network interfaces per type and polls then calculates higher level maintenance type statistics along with the detected packet errors and discards, namely the interfaces link percent Utilization and Link Throughput (in Kbps). 

The main goal of the management process is to specifically calculate link utilization and link Throughput and to compare the traffic statistics to interface traffic errors and discards detected simultaneously.

The solution presentation is based on the MIB-II which in turn is based on the IETF standard MIB RFC1213 which includes the objects necessary to maintain the interface statistics.
