Application Traffic: FTP Traffic Statistics History
(SM-SmallSol015)
Solution Introduction & Overview:
This Small management solution provides an application that monitors and accounts for the File Transfer Protocol traffic (FTP) performance and traffic statistics levels made through IP network devices and on a specific administrator enabled interfaces.
It is essential to network administrators today to track particular applications performance and traffic statistics levels as they are interested in creating *true* and *functional* Application ‘Content Accounting Levels’.
This is done by collecting the values of the MIB Objects representing the ftp application traffic being transmitted and received. Traffic statistics are in packets and bytes calculated per monitored interface which is specifically enabled for this purpose by the network administrator in a production environment. The MIB Objects are cnpdAllStatsInPkts, cnpdAllStatsOutPkts, cnpdAllStatsInBytes, and cnpdAllStatsOutBytes respectively.
The solution presentation is based on the Network-Based Application Recognition (NBAR) Application Recognition feature which populates the CISCO-NBAR-PROTOCOL-DISCOVERY MIB which includes the objects necessary to maintain the above described content accounting statistics.
