TCP Session General Traffic, Retransmissions, and
Response-Time Delay Statistics

Solution Overview:
 

This management solution focuses on detecting ONLY those TCP sessions established against the particular network element being polled and collects the particular TCP session traffic statistics.

The solution defines a module name and description, then initiates the polling process under which the managed Devices are fed into the polling SNMP engine, where all active TCP connections (or connection requests being negotiated) are learnt and a history of all session traffic details are kept for future baselining of network connections.

The user has the choice to graph all of the following calculated objects:

• TcpConnInBytes and TcpConnOutBytes: representing the Inbound and Outbound traffic loads in bytes respectively.

• TcpConnInPkts and TcpConnOutPkts: representing the Inbound and Outbound traffic loads in number of packets respectively.

• TcpConnSRTT: representing the Round-Trip Time statistics for each of the TCP connections.

• TcpConnRetransPkts: representing the retransmission statistics for each of the TCP connections.

• TcpConnFastRetransPkts: representing the ‘Advanced Algorithms’ based retransmission statistics for each of the TCP connections.
