VOIP Call Accounting History Report

Solution Introduction & Overview:

 

This Small management solution provides an application that monitors and accounts for the Voice Over IP (VOIP) calls made through IP network devices.

 

This solution application also maps between each local device where a VOIP call is initiated and its corresponding destination set of dialled numbers and devices as well as other related call details. 

 

It is essential to network administrators today to track each VOIP call as they are interested in creating a *true* and *functional* VOIP Call ‘Service Accounting Levels’ through accounting for each of the calls using each prospective call’s details.

 

This VOIP Call accounting could be done by collecting the values of the MIB Objects representing the details per actual Call registered in a production environment. The MIB Objects to reflect Call identification details are cvVoIPCallHistoryRemoteIPAddress, cvVoIPCallHistoryRemoteUDPPort, cCallHistoryPeerAddress, cCallHistoryConnectTime, cCallHistoryDisconnectTime among other objects representing the Call’s Session protocol and Session target respectively.

 

The solution defines a main and two other transient SOSL scripts. The scripts reads the details about dialled calls from each managed network element and keeps a history of those details. The scripts also calculates the duration of each call.

 

The solution presentation is based on the DIAL-CONTROL, CISCO-DIAL-CONTROL, and the CISCO-VOICE-DIAL-CONTROL MIBs which both include the objects necessary to maintain the above described voice call accounting statistics.
