Solution Introduction:

This management solution focuses on managing the classified managed element’s physical entities and then polling the appropriate MIB objects for that particular class of entities.

The main goal of the management process is to manage the Module Class entity on the managed devices. The solution presentation is based on the RFC 2737 Entity MIB Objects. It ONLY manages the Modules on each of the managed devices.

Its interesting to note that many network hardware vendors have resorted to implementing different MIBs per hardware entity class to tackle this industry wide problem. This solution presentation however demonstrates how SOSL is fully capable of resolving once and for all similar industry wide shortcomings. It also demonstrates SmartMIB’s ability to segregate management processes on the basis what is to be reported, thus we could claim that maintaining the Quality of polled data leads to controlling the Quality of the final reported outcome.
