IP Host Traffic Accounting History

Solution Introduction & Overview:

 

This small management solution provides an application that monitors and accounts for the number of Packets and Bytes of traffic switched by each of the monitored Routing devices. This solution application also maps between each local host and its corresponding destination set of addresses.  

 

The main goal of the management process is to specifically count the transit (outbound) switched traffic between each detected source IP address and the corresponding destination IP address. The collected data is presented in both number of Packets and number of Bytes.

 

The solution defines a main and a transient SOSL script that sets a Check Point database to be populated with the current IP Statistics from an active database maintained by the Routing device; the solution then polls the Checkpoint database for the Packets and Bytes counts for the .    

 

The solution presentation is based on the OLD-CISCO-IP MIB which includes the objects necessary to maintain the above described accounting statistics.
