Solution Introduction & Overview:
This small management solution provides an application that learns and then builds all detected network links independent of those links types.
This small management solution
addresses the issue of baselining the topology of the network to enable the administrators
to gauge and monitor the topology itself avoiding the duplications and
repetitions of management loads and effort which is critical to achieving
optimal network operations.
The solution presentation is based on the Cisco System’s Proprietary Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) MIB which includes the objects necessary to maintain the interfaces link database information.
This small management solution focuses on managing ONLY those interfaces that are CDP Protocol enabled as is set by the network administrator on the managed network devices. The solution defines a set of modules that reads the CDP MIB Cache table of the managed elements.
